FAQ - Motorcycle Insurance

Do I have to answer all questions?
All questions must be answered truthfully and fully. If you do not, you could make your insurance invalid and you may also be prosecuted under the Road Traffic Act.
What is policy excess?
Policy excess is the amount you pay towards repairs after an accidental damage or theft claim if you have selected comprehensive or third party, fire and theft cover.
Who can drive my motorcycle?
Cover is restricted to persons named on the certificate, including you.
How can I use my motorcycle?
All policies cover social, domestic and pleasure use, including travel to and from work. Business use including courier/fast food delivery use is available but not through the website. Call us and we will be happy to provide you with a quotation.
Will I be covered if I drive someone else's motorcycle or car?
No unless you have an easi rider insurance policy.
On easi rider policies driving of other motorcycles is covered provided the motorcycle does not belong to you and that the owner of the motorcycle has it insured. Cover is third party only. It is not available on courier, fast food delivery or school motorcycle policies.
What is a no claim discount?
A 'no claim discount' is allowed for each accident-free (i.e. claim free) year driving in your own name on a private motorcycle policy. Our maximum discount is reached after five years.
Can I protect my no claim discount?
Yes at an extra charge if you currently have 5 + years discount
Can I carry pillion passengers?
Do not carry a pillion passenger if you hold a provisional licence, as you are not entitled to do so by law. This is the main contributory factor to the high levels of motorcycle insurance premiums in this country. An Garda Siochana are monitoring this situation closely and they will advise us of anyone illegally carrying a pillion passenger. We will then immediately cancel the Policy, advising the relevant statutory authorities. You may also be prosecuted under the Road Traffic Act.
Do I need a valid licence ?
As Policyholder it is ultimately your responsibility to hold a valid driving licence for the motorcycle you are using. Failure to do so gives the Insurance Company the right to decline a claim due to a breach in policy conditions and you may also be prosecuted under the Road Traffic Act.
